LAMPA offers every client 500 free hours to try LAMPA out before making any commitment. In addition to this, the LAMPA fee structure is designed so that you order and pay for what need.
No. LAMPA clients are sent as many administrator usernames and passwords as they need - these are issued upon registration. It is up to the client administrator(s) to generate and issue as many new usernames and passwords to other users as required . Aside from the administrator, there are generally three other user types: teachers, students, and parents or corporate sponsors of the student or course. The administrator must decide which user rights each user group is entitled to.
Only if you want them to. As a LAMPA teacher, you have access to two activity databases: your personal ‘My Activities' database, and the MyLAMPA.com public activity database. When you create or modify an activity in your lesson plan, you are offered the option of saving it to your ‘My Activities' database so that you can easily find it again if you are looking for it in the future. This database is for you and you alone. But, if you would like to share your activity, you may publish it to the MyLAMPA.com public activity database as well. From here, other LAMPA users can download the activity directly into their LAMPA Lesson Plans with a click of the mouse. Non-LAMPA users can also access these activities as PDFs.
We can't know everything, but teachers wishing to submit activities must cite sources and/or acknowledgements. We will not publish activities if we don't know where they come from.
LAMPA is backed up twice a day. If something happens to the server or the power supply, it is possible that data entered since the last backup will be lost. However, the chances of this happening are very small and the losses would be minimal.
Yes. As an alternative to the yearly subscriptions we offer, if you would prefer to have complete control over your LAMPA system, we will issue multi-year licenses and help you install LAMPA on your own server.
LAMPA can be accessed in two ways. All LAMPA users, including learners and parents or corporate sponsors, can access LAMPA through this website (www.mylampa.com or www.lampasystems.com) by logging on in the upper right corner. If you would prefer learners, clients, etc... to go through your own website, you may create log-on access directly from your home page.
LAMPA can be used as the foundation of a distance learning course. Since it is Internet-based, teachers and learners anywhere in the world can access lessons, homework and many other functions central to any kind of teaching and learning activity. So LAMPA can be used in conjunction with other technologies (e.g. video conferencing) and provide the infrastructure for such programs. Plans are in the works to develop a state-of-the-art virtual classroom and language lab to work on the LAMPA platform.
If you are an individual teacher and wish to use LAMPA for your own private teaching or within your school's system, you must take on the dual roles of administrator and teacher. An administrator username and password is issued upon subscription to LAMPA and then, as the administrator, you may assign yourself a teacher's account - in fact, you could even set up additional teachers' accounts for colleagues as well. Dual-role users can easily toggle back and forth between accounts.
Not yet. We are working on a separate LAMPA Lesson Planner stand-alone module that would be downloaded onto your hard drive (i.e. not Internet-based) but it is not ready yet. Keep checking this site for further developments.
