When sitting down at his or her computer, the teacher typically first sees a timetable of upcoming lessons. Each lesson cell shown (scheduled lesson) on the timetable includes colour-coded bars indicating whether the lesson has been prepared (yellow), has yet to be written (grey), has been taught and reported (green), has elapsed but has not been planned or reported (red), or has been cancelled (black). The teacher clicks on the lesson cell shown on the timetable for which he or she would like to view details. At this point the teacher is given options to plan a lesson, to view past lessons for that group, to view future lessons, to view the class list, to view grades, etc. . . .
If the teacher wishes to write a lesson plan, he or she opens the lesson plan template and begins writing a lesson. The learning activities, which make up the lesson, are either created in or imported into the lesson plan. LAMPA allows the teacher to save new activities used in a personal activity database and, if desired, share activities from a public database. Once added to the database, they can then be imported directly back into a new lesson plan template in the future and modified if desired. The modified activity can then be exported back to that teacher’s activity database and stored for future use in accordance with the indexing parameters. When a lesson plan is completed, it is stored in a lesson directory.
